Zalgo text generator
Type your text, drag the sliders, and get zalgo font text you can copy and paste anywhere — Instagram, Discord, WhatsApp, gamer tags, anywhere text goes.

What this tool actually does
This is a zalgo text generator — "zalgo" traces back to a mid-2000s internet horror meme, and the name stuck to the technique itself. There's no font file involved. What actually happens is that every visible character in your text gets extra invisible Unicode combining marks attached to it — small accent-like symbols that stack above, through, or below the base letter instead of taking up their own space. Enough of them stacked together and the text reads as corrupted, cursed, or possessed.
Because it's just Unicode text and not an image or a special font, the output works anywhere text works: Instagram bios and captions, Discord messages and nicknames, WhatsApp statuses, Roblox and Minecraft usernames, TikTok captions, posts on X, or a plain text file. Copy it once, paste it wherever.
Three sliders instead of one
Most zalgo text generators give you a single "craziness" knob, if they give you any control at all. This one splits intensity into the three zones combining marks actually occupy — above, through, and below the character — because they don't all behave the same way. Marks above and below are mostly decorative and render reliably almost everywhere. Marks through the character (strikethrough-style overlays) are the ones most likely to turn into a box or get trimmed on an older device, so keeping "through" low is the single best move if you want heavy-looking glitch text that still pastes cleanly.
The renderability badge under the output updates live and gives you a plain-language read on that trade-off — it's an estimate based on how many marks are stacked per character, not a guarantee for every app on every device, but it's the same real signal every "will this break" question in the FAQ below is actually asking about.
Presets for a specific look
The sliders above start heavy, which is the classic zalgo look. If you want something lighter and still readable for a bio or a chat message, the glitch text generator starts from a cleaner preset. The cursed text generator is tuned for gamer tags and Discord nicknames, where length limits bite first. The corrupted text generator leans on strikethrough marks for a data-damage look, and the creepy text generator stacks marks below the line for horror titles. Where the names came from is covered in glitch vs. zalgo vs. cursed text.
What it doesn't do
To be direct about the limits: this tool does not guarantee your text will render identically on every device — Unicode combining marks are drawn by the operating system's own text engine, so spacing varies slightly between iOS, Android, Windows and Linux. It also won't make text bypass a platform's actual content moderation (glitching a word doesn't hide its meaning from most modern filters), and it isn't a tattoo-design tool — if you're looking for lettering to show a tattoo artist, you want a visual lettering generator, not Unicode text. And heavy "through" intensity can get trimmed in short fields like usernames, which is exactly what the renderability badge is for.
Frequently asked questions
How do I copy and paste zalgo text?
Type your text, adjust the intensity if you want, then press the Copy text button. The zalgo version is copied to your clipboard and ready to paste into Instagram, Discord, WhatsApp, or anywhere else.
Can I control how intense the zalgo effect is?
Yes — this generator has three independent sliders for marks above, through, and below your text, instead of one global intensity setting. That lets you dial in exactly how broken you want it to look.
Why isn’t my zalgo text copying correctly?
Some apps strip or limit combining marks in short fields like usernames. If text looks wrong after pasting, try lowering the intensity sliders — see the renderability guide for details.
What is zalgo text?
Zalgo text is the internet-meme name for text with Unicode combining marks stacked on it until it looks corrupted or "cursed." It originated from a creepypasta character called Zalgo around 2004–2009 and became a way to make text look glitched or possessed.
Why does some zalgo text turn into boxes or squares?
Boxes (often called "tofu") appear when a device or font doesn’t support a specific Unicode character. It happens more often with heavy "through" mark density on older systems — the renderability badge on this page flags that risk before you paste.
Does Discord support zalgo text?
Yes, Discord renders Unicode combining marks in messages, nicknames and status text. See does Discord support glitch text? for limits.
